May 1, 2012—Lay Off and Transition Update

**************************************************************************

In order to provide a smooth transition for the new board, Mr. Farrell is authorized to act on behalf of AME, in his current role of AME Executive Board member, to meet with the county and/or the membership to continue talks with you on the fiscal crisis to save jobs from lay-offs and to resume contract negotiations with our members at the Suffolk County Community College—

prior to July 1,2012

Notice to All AME Members at Suffolk County Community College:

Final certification for all College Aide members at SCCC was obtained by AME on April 9, 2012. PERB will vote on the matter at their monthly meeting on April 23, 2012, but this clears the way for Contract Negotiations to begin for all members at the college.

Negotiations were to begin this week but, due to the transition of union officers at AME, these meetings are being postponed until the new Executive Board reschedules them. Also upon request, the Joint Meeting of all Units scheduled for Thursday, April 12th at AME is being rescheduled to a later date.

Congratulations on securing AME as your bargaining unit representative and good luck on a successful negotiation.

Cheryl A. Felice

President
